King of Slugs

Made for the Union Game Jam of July 2024.

NOTE: Version 1.1 was created after the game jam finished. Version 1 was what I submitted to the jam. 1.1 fixes a minor bug on the title screen.

You are the Slug Prince, peacefully passing the days as you learn the ins and outs of your future kingdom and its subjects. When suddenly, one fateful night, your father is murdered, and you are cast out of the palace!

Injured and nearly lame, you think to yourself...  "Is there nothing I can do? Must I truly die today?" You lament, until you see something shining in the moon-lit dirt...

You muster all your strength to light your personal lantern, and what do you find but a salt gun! A highly dangerous and illegal item. Salt is extremely toxic to slugs. You recall that salting is used as a form of torture in fringe terrorist groups. Was this weapon used to kill your father?

Now is not the time for hesitation, though. Foreign agents are trying to take your country! No doubt they will rule your subjects with unkindness and fear.

Take your destiny. For the Slug Kingdom, you must wield this weapon of torture, and take back your throne with the salt of death!
